DEL MAR — When Del Mar residents go to the polls Nov. 4, they will be asked to vote on the adoption of the Garden Del Mar specific plan as approved by City Council on Aug. 4.

The city is currently accepting written arguments for or against the measure. Arguments must be 300 words or less and are due by Aug. 20. Submitted arguments may be changed or withdrawn until that date.

The city is also allowing rebuttal arguments for this measure. They may not exceed 250 words and must be submitted by the authors of the opposing direct arguments. The deadline to submit rebuttal arguments is Aug. 28.

Arguments and rebuttals will be available for public examination in the city clerk’s office at least 10 calendar days from the submittal deadline.

All arguments and rebuttals require the name and signature of the author. If submitted by an organization, they must include the organization name and the name and signature of at least one principal officer. Submissions must be turned into the city clerk’s office at City Hall, 1050 Camino del Mar, by the end of normal business hours on the day of the deadline.

Council is holding a special meeting at 6 p.m. Aug. 11 to consider whether the November ballot will also include a measure to allow an increase of up to 13 percent in the transient occupancy tax paid by hotel visitors. Arguments for and against the measure will be accepted if it is added to the ballot. Visit http://www.delmar.ca.us for an update.
