RANCHO SANTA FE — By David Wiemers

RANCHO SANTA FE — Dozens of art and music lovers gathered on the lawn of The Inn at Rancho Santa Fe Aug. 10 to help raise funds for local outreach programs. The second annual event was co-sponsored by the Rancho Santa Fe Art Guild and The Inn, bringing together more than 20 local artists, the Peter Pupping Band, and a banquet of food for the outdoors crowd to enjoy.

Local artists like Martha Grim, Dot Renshaw, Gary Johnson and Elaine Trei demonstrated how they paint, what the creative process is all about and answered questions for curious “wannabes.” The artists also donated several pieces of original art, which were then raffled off.

The proceeds from the art and the event will go to two different programs: ARTS, A Reason to Survive and the San Pasqual Academy. ARTS provides a healing experience in the visual, performing and literary arts for families facing adversity. Earlier this year, the ARTS Center opened its doors at the NTC Promenade in Point Loma. The San Pasqual Academy is located in Escondido and provides foster teens with a stable, caring home and education.

Next month the Rancho Santa Fe Art Guild will host their big event of the year: A Finer Art Affaire. More than 150 fine artists booths will be on display, along with art demonstrations, a children’s art show and music. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 7 in the parks in the heart of the village, on the corner of Paseo Delicias and the Avenida de Acacias.
