OCEANSIDE — There was music, dancing and bead throwing from the band, as hundreds gathered at Rancho Del Oro Park to enjoy the music of Steve Reid and the zydeco tunes of the Bayou Brothers at this summer’s final Concert in the Park on Aug. 14.
“The crowd looks great to me,” Tim Cash, Bayou Brothers vocalist and bass player, said. “We got the kids out there, seniors, and all ages in between.”
“It’s just cool,” Wes Holder, who attended with his family including 1-year-old daughter Sienna, said. “Such a cool little park, too.”
For two years the city and the City Art Commission have revitalized the free Concerts in the Park series. This year, two concerts were held. “The goal is to bring back family recreation,” Shannon Sellinger, Parks and Recreation senior management analyst, said.
The final concert in the park signals the end of summer is drawing near, but not the end of outdoor family fun. Oceanside Parks and Recreation will continue to hold free movies under the stars at Oceanside parks through October, Sellinger said.
